Rev. Dorothy Moyd Obituary

Reverend Dorothy “Diane” Lemon Moyd entered into eternal rest Friday, June 1, 2018 at Palmetto Richland Memorial of Columbia, SC.  Dorothy was born March 11, 1956 to the late Leroy and Betty Lemon. 

She was educated in the public schools of St. George, SC and Graduated from St. George High.  She furthered her education and graduated from Columbia Commercial College as an Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN).  She became employed at Kershaw County hospital before nearing her retirement at  Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.  While she worked in many areas in the hospital, she matriculated to a surgical nurse. 

Reverend Moyd accepted Jesus as her personal savior at an early age and has maintained her close connection to the virtues of a Christian Woman throughout her life.  She has worked in God’s ministry for over thirty-eight years.  She accepted her call from the Lord into the Ministry and was licensed after her initial sermon on July 4, 2002 and ordained under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Reverend Leon R. Dickerson and the South Carolina Gethsemane Baptist Association on November 14, 2004.  She availed her Christian work through teaching, sharing the Gospel with various churches, home Bible Studies, aiding in prison ministries, and visiting homes of sick and shut-ins for over 23 years.

Her motto is: “Jesus Is Lord”

Dorothy leaves to cherish fond memories, her loving and devoted sister Janett Lemon of Columbia, SC, two sisters Ruth Daniels, Grover, SC and Janette Johnson, North Carolina.  Two Nephews, Chevy (Ashley) Cook, and Sean (Lizzy) Cook.

Aunts and Uncles:  Marvie (late Micheal) Brown Sr., Dorchester, SC, Barbara (Frank) White Sr. and Ruby (late Harris) Lemon, St. George, SC, Ruby Mae (late Calhoun) Posser, Grover, SC, Annie (Artist) Dozier of Brooklyn, NY,  Reba and Candice Linguard, Queen Ester and Harold Linguard Walterboro, SC, Ethel Linguard, Orangeburg, SC, Mary Sanders, NY. Three God-Sons, W. Maurice Koger II, Burrell J. Koger, and Clyde A. Washington.  Fellow Laborers In the Gospel: Evangelist Dr. Sheila Koger, Rev. Gladys Young, and Rev. Gloria Priester.  A special friend as a daughter, Lisa Morris and her sons, Tray Thompson, and Marquis Miller. Special friends, Yvonne Jenkins, and Yvete Mattox.  A host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
