Mr. Randy Govan departed his life on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. Randy was born on February 2, 1958, in Columbia, SC to the late Mr. James Govan, Sr. and the late Mrs. Sallie Mae Barksdale Govan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Henry Stinson.
Randy was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. He joined Friendship Baptist Church at an early age and received Christ into his life. He was a member of the Jubilee Choir. Randy was employed with the Columbia Housing Authority as a professional painter. He retired from the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation as a grounds supervisor. Randy enjoyed football, playing basketball, shooting pool, and cooking on the grill.
Randy will be greatly missed and his memories forever cherished by his loving companion, Laura Govan of Columbia, SC; one son, Charles Wesley of Charlotte, NC; one daughter Denita (Frederick) Gaulman of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Gail Brown, Joyce Hopkins, and Wanda Govan all Columbia, SC; five brothers, Lemon Gadson of St. Matthews, SC, Bennie Lee Stinson and Larry Govan of Columbia, SC, James Govan of Washington, DC, and John Govan of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Kiana Rucker, Jessica Rucker, Tiffany Gaulman, Zayvion Wesley, and Vataha Wesley; two great-grandchildren, Leah Jenkins, and Brooklynn Young; four sisters-in-law, Josephine (Bryant), Mary (Wilbur), Carolyn and Ernestine; two brothers-in-law, James Tillman and Willie Tillman; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and loved ones and friends.
