Raleigh James Lyles was born July 19, 1958, in Kershaw County, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Clyburn, Sr. and Elease “Pearlie” Bennett Lyles. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Raleigh affectionately known to some as “Ralo,” was educated in the Public Schools of Richland County. He was a dedicated member of Fort Clark Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Greeter.
As a handy man and tradesman, he loved to work with his hands and took pride in fixing, building, and helping others whenever he could. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard to pass the time. He loved his family and those whom he came in contact with, and he would go out of his way to help anyone who was in need.
Though he is no longer with us, his presence and the memories shared with him will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved and knew him.
In addition to his parents, Raleigh was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Clyburn, Jr.
Those who will forever cherish his loving memory are his sisters, Christine (Charles) Robinson, Etta (Sylvester) Bright, Ronetta (Eddie) Pringle and Patricia Lyles, all of Columbia, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
