Paul Anthony Oree Obituary

Paul Anthony “Ant-nee” Oree was born on November 12, 1965, the beloved son of Vernell (Oree) Bellamy and the late Elijah Bland. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.

A life-long resident of Columbia, Paul grew up in the neighborhood of Edisto Court and was educated in the Public School System of Richland District One, attending AC Moore Elementary, Middle and AC Flora High School. Paul was employed in the Construction field for over (20) years, retiring from Southern Milling & Lumber Corporation.

Paul, affectionately known as “Ant-nee,” was known for his joking and being an easy going mild natured, with a Gentle Spirit’ who was loving Friend, Son and Relative. Importantly he loved his family and would go beyond measures to help others in need. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and fishing. Top fan of the Steelers, he wore his colors every game that was played. Paul was avid about the Pittsburgh Steelers. His favorite saying was “IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM, JOIN THEM”! “Ant-nee” was enjoyed supporting friends and spending quality time with those he loved. He also enjoyed outdoor grilling and sitting under a shaded tree.

Paul accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age under the leadership of his mother Vernell (Bishop Eddie Bellamy) at Church of Grace in Columbia, SC. During his tenure at Grace, he was involved in many activities.  He was also faithfully in the community, always being a helping hand in missionary work, such as with the resettlement of Somali refugees in Columbia, South Carolina and making charitable contributions to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his father Elijah Bland; and his daughter, Geneva Nanetta Austin-Amaker.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories are his loving mother, Pastor Vernell (Bishop Eddie) Bellamy; daughter; Kemani Irie Brazell; brother, Terry Brown; former spouse, Darlene Austin; grandchildren, Zamari Shaniece Amaker and Gabriel Quinton Antoni Amaker; aunts and uncles, Lilly Mae Thomas, Robert (Roz) Sumter, Dorothy (Waddell) Gibson, Tonya (Mike)  Bland, Helen Green, and Venita Bland, all of Columbia South Carolina; and a host of other loving family members and dear friends all of whom will dearly miss him, but rejoice that he has started his eternal journey in Heaven with the Lord.
