Pastor Johnnie Lee Tillmon, affectionately known as “Tilly”, was born on May 1, 1939 to the late Walter Tillmon Sr. (Dorothy) and Pinky Jackson Hankieson (Theodore) in Lexington, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, with his wife by his side.
He was educated in the public schools of Lexington County, South Carolina. He received ministry certification from Word of Life Bible Training Institute and earned a Bachelor and Master Degree of Theology from Colonial Christian Seminary & College. He served in the United States Air Force and following his military career, was employed as a Truck Driver at Columbia Truck Rentals and as a Maintenance Specialist at Westinghouse Nuclear Plant for 33.5 years, from which he retired.
He was the Pastor of Christian Harvest Ministry in West Columbia, South Carolina, alongside his wife, First Lady Elizabeth Tillmon.
Pastor Tillmon was preceded in death by his son: Elder Rudolph Tillmon Sr., daughter: Lolisa Marie Washington, father: Walter Tillmon, Sr., mother: Pinky Jackson Hankieson, sisters: Josephine Jones, Shirley Gleaton, and Carolyn Corley; and brothers: Clarence Tillmon, Joe Lewis Tillmon, Theodore Hankieson Jr, and Cleo Hankieson.
He leaves to cherish, his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Robinson Tillmon; his children: Teretha Thomas (Daniel) of Columbia, SC, Ricky Tillmon of the home, Teressa Jamison (Joseph – deceased) of Cayce, SC, Johnny Lee Washington (Martisa) of Clarkesville, TN, Johnnie Mae Wells (Timothy) of Columbia, SC, Kathy Green (Rodney) of Cayce, SC, Mechelle Harris (Wilbur) of Columbia, SC, and Joshua Dianne McCray (Earnest) of Pflugerville, TX; his sisters: Agnes Copeland (Herbert), Barbara Earle (Roger), Helen Harrell, Dorothy Mae Reed (O’Neal – deceased), Wanda Scott (Henry), Pinky Shorter, Elizabeth Smith, Janice Tillmon, and Dorothy Waters (Tommy); his brothers: Bishop Walter Tillmon, Jr. (Ruby), Woodrow Tillmon (Vermella), Clifton Tillmon (Mary), and Charles Tillmon (Betty); 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
