Pamela M. Hill was born with an independent spirit in Newport News, VA on August 1, 1950 to Pauline Scott & Russell Thomas. Her sunset occurred on May 26, 2023 at 6:00 AM in Columbia, SC. Pamela was the youngest to both sisters, Sarah Johnson (by Pauline), and Twila Thomas (by Russell). Pam began her life in Virginia but grew up in Benton Harbor, MI where she gave birth to her only child, Scott Hill in 1970.
While growing up in Benton Harbor, Pam learned to sew from her mother Pauline and was an excellent seamstress. As a child, she participated in the Big Sisters organization and had a lifelong familial relationship with her Big Sister, Dianne DeFrance. Always moving independently, Pam migrated to Washington, DC where she began her career with the Federal Government in 1978. From DC, she moved to Los Angeles, CA and in California, she purchased her first home and used it to fund her next real estate ventures in Southeastern VA where she first designed and built her own home. Nearing retirement from the federal government, Pam sought a temperature-friendly environment and chose to relocate to Columbia, SC knowing no one. It didn’t matter. Whether in Michigan, Virginia, DC, California, or South Carolina, Pam met a plethora of lifelong friends who were loyal, forgiving, supportive, and caring to her.
Although Pam never had grandchildren, she loved and cherished her sister’ offspring. Sarah gave her Donna Knight, Linda Arencibia, and Ellis Quarles. Twila gave her Darrell Thomas (Sonja), Lana Taylor, Bettina Daniel (Nelson), Annette Taylor, Sherri Cooper (Chuck), Nathaniel Rogers (Marci) and David Rogers (Jennifer). Two special nieces who loved her dearly are Donna Sanders and Traci Adih. Between her nieces and nephews, she was blessed with 23 grand nieces and nephews and additional great-grand nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her son, parents, sister Sarah, niece Donna Knight and great nephew David Arencibia. Leaving to cherish her memory are her step mother Annie Thomas; sister, nieces, nephews, loyal friends, and other dear family members
