Sister Pamela Evans Jonnson, was born September 25, 1951, in West Columbia, South Carolina, the third of seven children born to the late Marion Evans Sr. and Charlotte Dervin Evans. She departed this life on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
“Pam” as she was affectionately called was educated in the public schools of Lexington County where she attended Lakeview High School. After graduating she was employed with the S.C. Department of Mental Health, S.C. Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and as a Bus Driver for Lexington School District Two where she served for over 25 years as a dedicated employee.
Pamela was a faithful member of Turner Memorial A.M.E. Church where she humbly served in the following ministries: Church Stewardess Board, Women’s Missionary Society, a Class Leader, Lay Organization, Usher Board and church Sunday School. Pamela was a dedicated member of the Prayer line. She was also a member of "The Red Hat Society”.
Pamela enjoyed attending events and activities at the Tri-City Leisure Center and the Brookland Baptist Church Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Johnson of 55 years; sisters, Emmett Evans, Miriam Barker and Selina Evans; brother, Marion Evans Jr.; nephew, Keith Evans; and niece, Tawatha Evans.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Corey R. Johnson; daughter, LaDonna Johnson both of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Cherise, Narsheka, Kira, Jalen, LaDaizia and Kayla; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie (Tommy) Smith and Annette Riley of West Columbia, SC; aunt, Marie Mitchell of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Diane Johnson of Philadelphia, PA, Irene Bradley, Winifred Johnson, Janet Whipple and Teresa Johnson, all of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, Anthony Wright; a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
