Nelson Thomas, Jr., was born September 20, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, the oldest and beloved son of the late Nelson Thomas Lurleen Bethea Thomas and reared in the home of his grandmother, the late Tena Green Robinson. On Monday, December 5, 2022, Nelson Thomas Jr. peacefully departed this world to be with the Lord.
Nelson affectionately called “Jr “, was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County and graduated from Saint John High School in the Class of 1979.
Upon graduation he started his career at Bonitz, Inc., where he faithfully worked for 14 years. After leaving Bonitz, he began his career with Ferguson Enterprises where at the time of his departure, he had been employed for more than 29 years.
At an early age he joined Saint Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lone Star, South Carolina.
Jr will be remembered for his loving personality and his love for his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew him.
Nelson was also proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Sally Bethea; and three sisters, Janie Benson Webb, Tena E. Thomas and Michelle Thomas.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years Jeanne nieces, nephews, other loving Sanders; his caring son, Nelson Thomas III; loving daughter, Tierra Thomas; three (3) grandchildren; his seven siblings, Clare Curry, Ruth Clark, Isabelle Morris, Gladys Thomas, John Thomas, Lorenzo Hampton, and LaKiesha Hampton; four (4) in-laws, Renee Roberts, Tina (Clifton) Glenn-Childs, William Glenn, Jr., and Emanuel Glenn; three aunts, Josephine (Frank) Hydrick, Nettie (Velmon) Canady, Ann Bethea and Sally Smith; and a host of relatives, and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
