Nathaniel Jenkins, son of the late Solomon Jenkins and Hatttie Myers, was born May 22, 1946, in Hopkins, South Carolina. He departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland, in Columbia, South Carolina.
“Samuel” or “Nate”, as he was affectionaly called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Richland County where he attended Howard School and Booker T. Washington High School.
Nate never met a stranger, he loved telling jokes to his family and friends. He was always ready with a comeback or a quick response.
He retired from the Hardee’s Restaurant Cooperation after more than 40 years of dedicated service. Nate loved to cook for others. His passion was fishing; he called himself the “Master Fisherman.”
Nate joined the Laurel Street Baptist Church at an early age, and was baptised by the late Rev. Richard Ravenell.
In 1965, Nathaniel married the love his life, his beloved Helen Robinson. On last Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, they celebrated 57 years of love and devotion to each other. It was a blessing!
Mr. Jenkins was also preceded in death by his step-son, Henry Robinson; a brother, Frank Myers, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Myers.
Those who will forever cherish his loving memories are his loving and devoted wife, Helen R. Jenkins of the home; two loving daughters, Mildred “Shelly” (James) Corbett, of Gaston, South Carolina; and Katha “Kat” Jenkins of Columbia, South Carolina; his loving grandchildren, Ministers Rodricous (Tamier) Corbett of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Korie Corbett, Sr., Shakera Corbett, Brande’ Herbert, all of Columbia, South Carolina; and Shaniqua Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia; four precious great-grandchildren, Korie Corbett, Jr., Zoe Corbett, Daven Corbett and Aubrey Corbett; his caring godsister, Jackie (Freddie) Hudson of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Harry (Mary) Esaw of Columbia, South Carolina; four foster sisters, Claudette (Joe) Geter, Ineatha Glover, Gwen Tucker and Brenda Glover, all of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear frineds, all of whom will dearly miss him.
