Nancy Williams Reese Obituary

Deacon Nancy Elizabeth Williams Reese, born April 8, 1945, in Edgefield, SC, ended her eighty-one years earthly walk on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center, after her hard-fought battle against a myriad health complications. Through it all, she held steadfast to the tenets of bravery and strength that she gained through her everlasting faith and trust in Almighty God.

Nancy was one of the five girls, and additionally five boys born out of the union between the late P.C. Sr. and late Arena Wash Williams, in the total of eleven children reared in their loving home.

After graduating from the Greenwood Public School System in the Brewer High School Class of 1963, Nancy relocated to Richmond, VA,  where she met and wed the late William H. Reese. From this union was born three surviving and loving  children,  Gwendolyn Anjanette Greggs, Wanda Alicia Reese and Kelvin Lamar Reese. She was also blessed with five surviving grandchildren whom she adored and who were the apples of her eye, Devon Antonio Williams, Siana Ani Richardson, Carlos Alexander Smith, Malik Richardson, Jr. and Grant Kelvinson Reese.

Nancy’s family was pleased to share her infectious and loving smile and caring personality with both the Promised Land Community, and the greater Greenwood Community as well. She found what seemed to be her calling in her capacity as the Main Receptionist at the Wesley Commons Health and Retirement Community in Greenwood, where she worked for 30 years prior to her retirement in 2017.

Nancy was also called to service of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was ordained a Deacon in her beloved childhood Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Callison, SC. In addition to her service as a Deacon, she also had the pleasure of lifting her voice to the Lord every chance she got and served faithfully in the choir ministry for many years. She also served in the Sunday School ministry as a Sunday School Teacher, for many years.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her siblings, P.C. Williams, Jr., Walter Wesley Williams, Robert Lee Williams, Michael Williams, Barbara Rene Williams, and baby girl, Debra Jean Williams.

Of her immediate family, she leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving sisters, Christine Williams Wiley and Reverend Dr. Shirley Williams Kinard, both of the Promised Land Community, Greenwood, SC; brother, Edward Odell Williams of North Chesterfield, VA; and a niece reared as a sister, Barbara Ann Woods of Greensboro, NC; special cousins, Dena Mae Jackson, Loleitha Brown, and Doreitha Adams, all of Edgefield, SC.  Nancy also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, other loving relatives, dear friends, special sons and special daughters to mourn her passing.
