Muriel Helen Mapp was born June 17, 1923 to the late Charles S. Mapp and Josephine Gregory Mapp in New York, New York. She departed he victorious life of 97 years on July 27, 2020 peacefully at her home in Columbia, South Carolina.
Muriel was a lifelong Queens Resident. After graduating high school, she continued her education at Wilberforce University in Ohio where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She went on and received her Master’s Degree in Sociology at NYU. Muriel proudly worked for NYC Board of Education System for 63 years. Muriel Mapp broke history.
Muriel truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Her memories will forever live in the hearts of those who were touched by her and who loved her.
Muriel Helen Mapp is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline K. Brown; two granddaughters, Sonia L. Brown and Sharon R Brown-Ladson; three great grandchildren, Bryant, Davon and Derrick Houston; and one great-great grandson, D’Andre J. Houston; along with several other loving family members and friends.
