Montrez Jones Obituary

Montrez D. Jones also known as “Tray” but most would say “Blackson” and the ladies screamed “too fine” was born April 1, 2001 in Aiken, South Carolina.  Tray was raised in Columbia where he ran through the one side.  Everybody from old to young knew and respected him for who he was.  He was definitely one of a kind.  Montrez was the son of Ericka Thompson and Michael Jones.  On November 5, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida we had to say our goodbyes as Tray departed us to accompany his late grandmother Jonnie Mae Thompson.

Blackson attended CA Johnson High School in Columbia, SC.  He loved the color red and was always rapping.  He had plenty of friends who loved and supported him.  Most importantly his blessing to us was just to see us happy with his smile and those beautiful bright pearly white teeth.  Tray was very goofy and funny and he would play all day.  There’s not enough paper in the world to fulfill his legacy.  Hood baby and anybody who knew him knew he was gone get it, by any means necessary.  Blackson had a charisma about himself even when he didn’t listen, he still won your heart over.  Tray was the light in the sun.  The way he would dance would bring joy to you because he was the ultimate best.  Just him saying “Facts” or “Shut up with me” or his most famous “Just Chill” will forever be missed.

In his mom’s voice, Tray would make you laugh when you were sad and piss you off when you were mad.  Montrez “lived” every year of his 18 years he was with us.  Like the saying says “Live Fast, Die Young”.  There are no words to describe Gods special angel because they wouldn’t be so special if we knew or had all the answers.  Fashion, that’s an unwritten book.  Just know he would be the cleanest in the room.

No matter how much Kayvicis his favorite, Boo or Shaq got on him, he would be smiling right at them saying “Just Chill”.  Fast cars, new cars, old cars, your car he wanted to drive waves on his head spinning like the wheels he loved to pull up in.

As we say our goodbyes we will celebrate his life like he would want us too.  Tray was the type to take from the rich and give to the poor, in his big brother Markayvicis voice.  To us that was love because as long as we was good so was he.  So don’t cry…don’t’ fight…don’t do nothing “JUST CHILL”

Tray leaves behind his parents, Ericka Thompson and Michael Jones; four sisters, Deondre Jones, Mikala Jones, Aniya Jones, A’Breonna Jones; two brothers, Markayvicis Jones and A. Marshall; a handsome nephew, Zion Kayvicis Jones and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins family and friends.
