Missionary Elizabeth Cokley Wright Obituary

Sister Elizabeth Cokley Wright was born August 31, 1954, in Cayce, South Carolina.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Solomon and Annie Bell Cokley.   She departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Elizabeth, affectionately called “Lilibet”, attended the public schools of Lexington County, and graduated from Brooklyn Cayce High School.  She later attended Midlands Technical College and became certified as a phlebotomist.  She was employed by the Department of Mental Health as a Mental Health Supervisor for 32 years.

As a child, she was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Cayce, SC, under the leadership of the late Rev. Andrew Johnson.  There, she was a faithful member of the Adult Choir.

Elizabeth met and married the love of her life, the late Gary Wright.  They lived happily together creating a hospitable atmosphere in their home until he went home to be with the Lord.

After becoming an adult, she moved her membership to the Hepzibah Holiness Church, Columbia, SC, under the leadership of the late Bishop Frank Brooks.  There she served on the Praise Team and Adult Choir.  As time progressed, Elizabeth became a member of the Refuge Temple Church under the leadership of the late Bishop William L. Bonner, where Bishop Sylvester K. Reid now serves as Pastor.  At Refuge Temple, Sister Wright served as a Missionary, Altar Worker, Sermonic Soloist, and a Choir member. She was faithful in everything she did, serving with excellence.  Because church was her passion, she would also assist her brother-in-law and sister at the Greater St. Thomas Apostolic Church. There she would assist as a Praise Team member, Altar Worker, and Sunday School Teacher.  Again, she served with grace and dignity and wore her titles well.

Sister Wright was also preceded in death by her siblings, Willie Henry Anderson and Solomon Cokely, Jr., Deborah Marie Hart and Dorothy Mae Perry; and her father-in-law, Mr. Willie A. Wright, Sr.

Cherishing fond and precious memories are her loving brothers; Clayton and Angelo (Jeanette) Cokley; loving sisters;, Co-Pastor Patricia (Bishop Thomas) Hunter of Columbia, SC , Anna Washington, Nellie Ann (Bruce) Fox and Imogene Cokley, all from Cayce, SC;  mother-in-law, Frances H. Wright of Columbia, SC ; brothers-in-law, Rev. Willie, Jr  (Kathy) of Sumter, SC , and Lewis (Cathy) Wright of NC and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom will miss her.
