Mildred L. Smith Sauls was born in Lexington, South Carolina on September 2, 1954, the beloved daughter of the late Willie Smith Sr. and Elnora Hart Smith. She was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to reunite with those who had gone on before her.
Educated in the public schools of Lexington School District Two, she was a 1972 graduate of Airport High School.
Mildred was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills for many years before becoming a compassionate caregiver until her health declined.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman C. Sauls; sisters, Carolyn Jivers and Mary W. Muller; and her brothers, George Hart and Clyde D. Hart Sr.
Mildred is lovingly survived by two devoted daughters, Sheila L. Smith and Angelia K. Smith; nine adoring grandchildren, Alexus Thompson, Jammie Thompson, Mary Smith, Darius Thompson, Donti’Anna Smith, Carl Ellison, Shondre Ellison, Bryan Smith, and Mason Smith; five adoring great-grandchildren, Malia Thompson, Amira Thompson, Dreshon Smith, Darius Thompson Jr. and Jett Thompson; her godson, Jason Rivers; three loving sisters, Lily Foster, Pat Muller and Gail (John) Hampton; four caring brothers, Willie (Retha) Smith Jr., Henry (Velvia) Smith, Bobby (Mary) Smith and Kenneth (Sandra) Smith; a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
