Mildred W. Simpkins

Mildred W. Simpkins departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at PRISMA Health Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mildred was born in Columbia, South Carolina on November 17, 1943 to Lue Ellen Salley Williams and Abraham Williams.

Mildred was a faithful member of St. Luke Baptist Church where she loved serving and singing on the Jubilee Choir.  She retired from Waverly Elementary school where she worked doing what she loved and that was cooking.

Mildred was a devoted mother, as well as to everyone else she loved and cared about. Mildred was married to the late Morris Simpkins Sr.  Their union was blessed with two sons, Morris Jr. (Doug) and Tyra (Vell).

Mildred is survived by her sons, Morris Jr. (LaKenya) Simpkins of Hampton, Virginia, Tyra Simpkins of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Isaac Williams and Bernard Tyrone Williams both of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters, Beatrice Williams-Chestnut and Albertha Williams both of Columbia, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Mildred was proceeded in death by her late husband Morris D. Simpkins Sr., her parents, Abraham and Lue Ellen Williams and two sisters, Alice (Betty) Williams-Tillman and Syreen Gertrude Williams Cooper.
