Michael Wayne Canzater Obituary

Michael Wayne Canzater was born June 3, 1961, to the late George and Maxine Canzater of Blythewood, SC.  This is where he lived for his childhood and most of his adult life. He attended Spring Valley High School, “Home of the Vikings.”  After high school, Michael entered the workforce.  During this time, Michael acquired a broad set of skills that allowed him to do almost anything.  He was  “A Jack of All Trades,” from mechanics to construction; if there was a job that you needed done, he was usually the man for the job.

Later in life, he joined in holy matrimony to Sharon Yvette Canzater, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded  in death by  his son, Jeremy Canzater; and his siblings, Allen Canzater, Lila Clifton, George Edward Canzater, and Clevan Canzater.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories three children,  Samantha (Darrius) Crum, Whitney Canzater, and Jermaine Canzater.  Along with his three surviving children, Michael leaves behind nine grandchildren, Saqohn, Samaria, Jamari, Kiara, Amir, Love, Amaya, Amani, and his soon to be born grandson; seven  siblings, Willie Lewis (Terry) Canzater of Blythewood, SC; Dorothy Dowdy of Columbia, SC; Robert (Barbara) Canzater, Leroy (Yvonne) Canzater, Odell (Kathy) Canzater, James (Carolyn) Canzater, all of Ridgeway, SC; Calvin Canzater of Ft. Wayne, IN; mother-in-law, Ella Davis of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, James Clifton of Elgin, SC; sister-in-law, Blondell Canzater of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will keep his memory alive and dear in their hearts.

Michael was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. A good Charles Bronson film, a cold beer on Saturday night, Al Green on the radio and BBQ on the fourth of July would have been his idea of a good time. He will be remembered always by his family and friends as a man of  “his people”.   Wherever you go, you will find someone who knew Michael “FleaBag” Canzater.
