Michael Gene Wilson

Michael Gene Wilson of Blythewood, SC was born, March 9, 1959, in Sacramento, California, the beloved son of Henrietta Morris Wilson and the late Green Wilson, Sr. He peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael attended the public schools of Richland County School District One and graduated from Dreher High School, in the Class of 1977, and continued his education at the University of South Carolina.

Michael was the founder and owner of Galaxy Way Enterprises, Inc d/b/a Wilson’s Roofing for over thirty years. He took pride in the services that he provided to his customers, always striving to be the best at his craft.

He loved people and never met a stranger. Upon meeting and conversing with his customers, many became friends. He enjoyed engaging in interesting conversation and lovingly sharing the extensive knowledge and wisdom with which he was graced. He also loved sharing his faith and love for Christ.

Michael accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gadsden, SC and later joined Family Outreach Word & Worship Center where he continued to be a faithful member and served as the lead bass guitarist.

Michael loved music, and he was an exceptional guitarist. Throughout his life, he played both lead and bass guitar with several local bands.

His favorite pastime was fishing, and he shared his love for fishing with family and his many loyal and devoted friends. As a result of his kindness and generosity, many benefited from his love for fishing as well as from his roofing business. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those he so lovingly touched.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Trina Marie Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of forty-two years,  Gaye K. Wilson of Blythewood, SC; son, Marcus T. Wilson of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Michieka B. Ferguson of West Columbia, SC; grandson, Carmichael D. Andrews of West Columbia, SC; mother, Henrietta M. Wilson of Blythewood, SC; brother, Green (Theressa) Wilson, Jr. of Columbia, SC; sister, Beverly W. (Martin) Samuels of Blythewood, SC; sisters-in-law, Crystalline D. (Darrell) Ray of Columbia, SC, Caral K. (Anthony) Culbertson  of Columbus, GA; brother-in-law, Keith (Inez) Kelley of Jacksonville, FL; a host of  nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
