Michael Martez Thomas, Jr. was born May 3, 2005 to in Columbia, SC LaKenyatta Maxwell and Michael Thomas. Michael was a sophmore at Eau Claire High School. He was an A-B honor roll student and a very talented athlete, since the age of 3. He developed a passion for baseball, playing for Rush’s, Greenview, and Hyatt Park. In the 7th grade, he also developed a passion for basketball, playing for Gibbes Middle School. During his 8th grade year, he played baseball for Eau Claire High School. Once he arrived at Eau Claire, he played baseball and basketball and was very dedicated to both. Michael’s hard work and dedication paid off his sophmore year where he played on the varsity basketball for Eau Claire and varsity baseball at Columbia High School.
“Mike” was a intelligent person and very mature for his age. He had a great personality with an amazing sense of humor. He had a smile that would light up a room. So when you think of “Lil Mike”, think of the many accomplishments he achieved within his 16 years and the many lives he touched. He will forever be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Larry (Love) Thomas; his great-grandparents, Gladys and Willie Hawkins, Mary Holman and P. Morgan.
He is survived by his parents; his younger siblings; Misiah Thomas, Channing Thomas, Bryan Dixon, Madyson Thomas and Braylen Dixon; his grandparents, Linda Maxwell and Johnny Hawkins, Valerie Thomas and Larry Thomas; his aunts, Sherrell Maxwell, Shajuana Maxwell, Thomasina Allen, and Melissa Maxwell; uncles, Jable Maxwell and Marcus Thomas; a special cousin, Ashley Hawkins; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
