Michael Tremel Gant was born on March 14, 1989, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Brenda Gant and Malchus Jenkins. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Michael received his education in Richland County School District One and proudly graduated from Dreher High School in 2007.
From a young age, Michael developed a deep love for sports—especially football. He nurtured this passion throughout his life, continuing to play football during his college years at Benedict College, where the game remained a source of pride, discipline, and joy.
Career-wise, Michael explored many paths, but one thing was certain—he was a natural-born architect and builder. Gifted with his hands, Michael could work on cars and build just about anything. His creativity and skill led him to become a certified firefighter through Heyward Career and Technology Center, a testament to his dedication and drive.
Michael had many hobbies and talents. He loved fishing, nature, building model cars, proudly displaying them as prized possessions. He was also a gifted artist, able to draw almost anything with a keen and natural eye. Music held a special place in his heart—it was not only how he expressed himself, but also his escape.
Everywhere Michael went, he graced those around him with his presence. He met every person with a smile, carrying a joyful and uplifting spirit. Michael was truly a happy person who lived his life spreading warmth, affection, and a contagious smile to all he encountered
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Ne’Talya Gant; and son, Darryl Bartley; parents, Brenda Gant and Malchus Jenkins; siblings, Charlay Caldwell, Jr., Nick Jenkins, Kendal Jenkins, Peyton Jenkins, Denver Jenkins, Caden Jenkins, Tosha Johnson, Faye Johnson, Nashanda Johnson, Ryan Jenkins, Jarrell Johnson, and La’Quentin Jenkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Michael Tremel Gant’s legacy of love, creativity, and joy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
