Mr. Michael Prophet was born on July 27, 1956, in Norway, South Carolina. He was the son of Charles L. Prophet and the late Annie H. Prophet. He departed this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
Michael attended the public schools of Richland County; graduated from Eau Claire High School, class of 1974. He started his career at South Carolina Electric and Gas (Scanna) in 1977, where he worked until his health declined.
Mr. Prophet was united in Holy Matrimony to Thelma D. Adams for 37 years. This union was blessed with four beautiful and loving children.
Mr. Prophet was baptized and joined Ridgewood Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he served on the youth choir. During his adult years, he served on the Male Chorus and the Adult Senior Ministry. Even though he was severely ill, he never stopped serving and praising God and coming to church.
He was affectionately called Big Mike by his family and friends. His years spent with his loving wife brought much love and joy in his life.
Mr. Prophet was the family comedian who loved keeping everyone laughing. He never met a stranger, striking up a conversation with anyone. He loved his family and hosting the best fish fry. When not entertaining his family or friends, he enjoyed planting flowers and refurbishing old furniture.
He was proceeded in death by his Mother, Annie H. Prophet, Father, and Mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David(Amy) Adams.
Mr. Michael Prophet leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted and loving wife, Thelma D. Prophet; three sons, Michael D. Prophet, Travis S. Prophet (Tracy), Jarvis A. Prophet (Shawnquay); one daughter, Krystle Prophet; Father, Deacon Charles L. Prophet; two brothers, Charles P. (Shirley) Prophet, Melvin Prophet; one sister, Angela Prophet; thirteen grandchildren all from Columbia, SC; In-laws, David (Cora) Adams, Lawrence (Joan) Adams, Alice (Ben) Garrick, Willie Ann (Henry) Watson all from Columbia, SC; James (Jennie) Adams, Thomasena (Clifford) Myers all from Hopkins, SC; Curtis Adams, Novia (Mitchell) Sims, Esther Huguenin all from Gadsden, SC; Two special Aunts, Mrs. Frances Deas of Columbia SC and Mrs. Emma Reed, of Norway, SC Best friend, Danny Barker of Columbus, Georgia and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and caring friends.
