Michael Mickle, Jr. Obituary

Michael De’Anthony Mickle, Jr. (“MJ”) was born May 6, 2008, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of Michael Mickle and Jasmine Moore. He gained his wings on Friday, December 12, 2025, at age 17.

“MJ” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Richland School District One where he was Senior at Lower Richland High School.  Upon graduating in May of 2026, he was preparing to enlist in the United States Military.

MJ was defined by his wearing of hoodies in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and especially in the Summer. He loved spending time with his family and being in his room on his game. When he ventured out of his room, MJ would let his presence be known by making a joke on someone in the room to make us laugh and then return to his room. He and his brother/cousin Travis “TJ” Brown would spend countless hours in MJ’s room on the game.  They would take a break to go play basketball outside and then return to his room back into the world of gaming. His favorite place to eat was American Deli, and his grandmother’s house.  MJ’s joyful yet quiet spirit was evident to all who knew him and loved him.

MJ was proceeded in death by his grandfather, FEO Timmy Young; and great grandparents, Hattie Ellison Mickle and Mae London-Danny.

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of MJ are his loving parents, Jasmine Moore and Michael Mickle;  his loving sister, MaKaylah Mickle; maternal grandmother, Eyvonna Young of Nebraska, and maternal grandfather, Michael Darby of Gaston, South Carolina; maternal great-grandparents, Betty Moore of Hinesville, Georgia, and Edward Moore of Gadsden, South Carolina; paternal grandmother, Wanda Mickle of Columbia, South Carolina, paternal grandfather, Danny London of Burgaw, North Carolina; and host of aunts, uncles, and devoted cousins, and friends, -all of whom are sadden by his untimely departure, and will truly miss him.
