Maxsena Thomas Days was born in New York on April 8, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Susie Mae Peterson and the late Mack Thomas. She departed this earthly life on March 12, 2020.
At an early age, Maxsena’s family moved to Columbia, South Carolina. Maxsena was educated in the public schools of Richland County, where she graduated from C. A. Johnson High School in 1967. Maxsena was a majorette while at CAJ.
Maxsena was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a devoted wife to her husband and best friend Thomas E. Days, Sr. They built a home filled with love for more than 20 years. Maxsena’s beautiful smile would light up any room she entered.
Maxsena retired from Seibels Bruce and began a second career as an Area Manager with Environmental Services System, where she worked for approximately 30 years before she retired in January 2014.
Maxsena was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served as Chairperson of Hospitality and the usher board until her health failed.
Maxsena was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Deidre Simmons.
Maxsena’s memories will be cherished by her devoted husband, Thomas E. Days, Sr; sons, Attorney Chris Hart, South Carolina House of Representative and Glennah Hart of Columbia, SC; stepson, Thomas E. Days, Jr. of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Deja, David, and Devin of Philadelphia, PA; one great-grandchild, DeAndre Hart of Virginia; a brother, Richard (Bernice) Smith of Columbia, S; son-in-law, David Simmons of Philadelphia, PA; four sisters-in-law, Frances Brazzle, Ella Wider, Sherrin Polk, and Barbara Johnson; one brother-in-law, Michael Polk; and a host of loving family and friends.
