Maxine Poole Brown

Maxine Yvonne Poole Brown was born September 5, 1954, in Union, SC, the daughter of the late Mack and Katie Hughes Poole. Maxine departed this earthly life for her Heavenly home on Saturday, July 18, 2026, peacefully in the comfort of her residence.  

Maxine was educated in the public schools of Richland County, where she graduated from C. A. Johnson High School Class of 1973.  During this time in her life, she married her husband, Frank Brown, who preceded her in death.

Maxine worked as a silk presser at Tripp’s Fine Cleaners for many years, then became a caregiver to the elderly until she retired. She loved caring for others. She gave her all and went to extreme lengths just to make sure others were okay. Maxine had a heart of gold and was also known for saying the craziest and funniest things, and anything that was on her mind.

She loved the LORD, going to church or joining online, watching westerns, reading, traveling, and taking care of her fur baby cat, Leah. Maxine loved spending a lot of her time with her daughter, grandchildren and her dear friends who were like family.

Though she is no longer physically with us, she has left a love to all those who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her aunt, Mary Alice Davis; brother-in-law, Leon Boyd; and grandson, Devin Kershaw.

Maxine leaves to cherish her precious memories her only loving and devoted daughter, Kimyatta Kershaw; her three beautiful grandchildren whom she adored, DeMarkus, Kailee, and Jacoby; loving sisters, Joyce (Leon) Boyd and Sandra Poole; caring brothers, Larry (Audrey) Poole, Freddy (Doris) Poole, and Kenny Poole; caring aunt, Elizabeth Bankhead of Charlotte, NC;  two special daughters, Deborah Anderson and Kimberly Ball; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
