Mary Deloris Lundy was born on April 1, 1954, in North, South Carolina, Orangeburg County, the beloved daughter of the late Rosetta Brown and Willie Clay Perry; and reared by her dearest grandmother, Leola T. Brown. She departed this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
“Lois” as she was affectionately called by her family, and “Mary” by her friends received her education in the public schools of Lexington County and graduated from Airport High School. She received an associate degree in Secretarial Science from Midlands Technical College in Columbia, SC. She chose a career in the insurance industry and was formerly employed by United States Fidelity, Guarantee, Aetna, and CSC Insurance Companies for over 25 years as a proficient typist working her way up to a claims policy rater until health declined and she retired.
Lois enjoyed family gatherings and was known for her smile, conversations, and laughter. She found beauty in the various flowers she planted and nurtured as if they were family. Lois also found peace and enjoyment in going fishing as much as she could until her health no longer allowed her fishing ventures.
Mary was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cayce, SC for over 30 years. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend but her greatest accomplishment in life was her love of God and unselfish love for her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by a brother Willie Clay Perry Jr. (“Bubba”).
She leaves behind cherished memories to one daughter, Nikki Lundy of West Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Keion and Keila Gilmore, both of West Columbia, SC; one great granddaughter, Jazmyn Gilmore of West Columbia, SC; brothers, Eddie Clay (Marva) Brown of Evans, GA, and Eddie Perry of North, SC; sisters, Deborah Oliver of North, SC, Patricia (Bobby) Ashford of Marietta, GA, and Sheila McMichael-Davis of Williamsburg, VA; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
