Mary L. Middleton

Mary Letha Riley Middleton was born June 24, 1944, in Woodford, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Thaddeus Seawright and Jeanette Riley Gillings. She departed this earthly life for eternal life with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at PRISMA Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mary was educated in the public schools of Lexington County in Swansea, South Carolina. She was employed for many years with RUS Uniform Service.

Mary was married to the late Isaac Middleton with whom she was blessed with many years of love and devotion before he went home to be with the Lord.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who left a legacy of love to all who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her children, Isaac and Bernard Middleton and Ronnie Riley; granddaughter, Veronica D. Holling; brothers, Andrew Gillings, Leroy Riley, Clarence Briggman and Hampton Riley; sisters, Retha Mae Davis, Nancy Riley, and Thelma Bloome.

Mary leaves to cherish fond and precious memories her loving sons, Jammie (Amanda) Middleton of Columbia, SC; and Jerome (Chandra) Middleton of Cayce, SC;  adoring grandchildren, La’Tia, La’Tresa and Jerome Middleton, Desmond, Jerrell, Samantha, and Tiana Jamison, Desmond Adams, Jalon Taylor and Darryl Bartley; her caring brother, Jermaine (Cindy) Gillings of Denver, CO; loving sisters, Berthelma Jeffcoat of Columbia, SC; and Gloria Jenkins of Gaston, SC; brother-in-law, Bernard Bloom of Elgin, SC; a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
