Mary Lee Goodman

The late Mary Lee Goodman was born September 8, 1937 to the late Curry Carter Sr. and Lizzie Green-Carter in Bamberg, SC. She transitioned to eternal rest on April 16, 2018.

Mother goodman received her education in Bamberg County Schools. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Olar, SC. She was a faithful member until she moved to Aiken, SC, where she lived with Onella Odom, who she called “Aunt Boot.”

Mother Goodman retired from Jewish Childcare, after devoting, loyally 29 years in Queen, NY. She was married to the late William Goodman over 50 years. To this union 2 children were born, 4 others reared in the home. Woodrow Carter, Darryl Goodman, and JoAnn Goodman preceded Mother Mary’s death.

She leaves to mourn a son Charles E. (Patricia) Carter of Bamberg, SC, two beautiful daughters: Deborah E. (Arthur) Lynch of Ehrhardt, SC and Wanda (Paul) Lee of Columbia, SC; two brothers: Curry (Earline) Carter Jr. of Bamberg, SC, and Franklin (Sadell) Carter of Ehrhardt, SC; a loving sister: Elizabeth (David) Dukes of Bamberg, SC; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowing relatives and friends.
