Martha Williams Anderson

February 17, 1935 ~ May 18, 2020 (age 85)

Obituary

Sister Martha W. Anderson, daughter of the late Mr. Frank Williams and Mrs. Grace Ann Dentley Williams was born in Columbia, SC on February 17, 1935. She departed this life on May 18, 2020 at home after a brief illness.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Heyward Anderson on September 13, 1952 and to this union, seven children were born. One son, Mr. Heyward Anderson, Jr. preceded her in death.

Sister Martha Anderson was employed at Kilborne Baptist Church for four years. She was also a volunteer for the Foster Grandparents Association. Sister Anderson was a charter member of the Progressive Church of our Lord Jesus Christ and continued to serve faithfully. She was baptized on February 2, 1950 in precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:4 and continued steadfast in the Apostle's doctrine until her death.

Sister Anderson was the epitome of a meek and humble spirit and was totally dedicated to God and his service. She served in various capacities in the church. Sister Anderson served as a Sunday School teacher, member or the Minister's Wives Guild, served in the church's nursery, sung on the Women's Choir, worked on the Women Auxiliary Board and supported her church with her time, talents, and finances. Sister Anderson loved the Lord and expressed her love through her caring attitude toward her fellow man.

She leaves to mourn fond memories, five daughters, Ms. Gladys Reeves, Mrs. Celestine (Nathaniel) Jones, Ms. Priscilla Anderson, Ms. Karen Elaine Anderson, and Ms. Jennifer Anderson, one son, Mr. Heyward Anderson II, all of Columbia, SC; one brother, Mr. Frank (Carrie) Williams, one adopted grandchild, Ms. Lillie Mae Waiter, one adopted God child, Mr. Lamont Jackson, Twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and special Godchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, many cousins and other relatives, friends as well as special family members or the Progressive Church.
