Marlisa Rachelle Griffin

Marlisa Rachelle Griffin, affectionately called “Tootsieroll,” was born June 1, 1977, in Lexington, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Marjorie Brewer (Willie Ervin) Griffin and John Clifford Nelson, Jr. She departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Marlisa was educated in the public schools of Swansea (Lexington County) and Columbia, South Carolina. She was employed in home health care with Visiting Angels.

Marlisa was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who was loved by many. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her only son, Artriz Tykeem Griffin; sisters, Eva Nelson, Melissa Ann Griffin and Bridgett Monique Griffin; and brothers, Frederick L. Griffin and John Nelson.

Those who are left to cherish fond and precious memories of Marlisa are her precious fur baby, “Susie” of the home; special friends, Anthony Chisolm of Columbia, SC; and Tyrone (Clarice) Wider of Charlotte, NC; loving brothers, Willie James Griffin of Columbia, SC, Vincent (Drenda) Griffin of Ludowici, GA, and Melvin (Patricia) Griffin of Columbia, SC; loving and caring sisters, Ladevia (Curtis) Griffin of Columbia, SC, Juanita (Harvey) Isaac of Marietta, GA, Brenda Griffin of Columbia, SC, and Cynthia Griffin of Ludowici, GA; caring uncle, Preston Brewer of Winnsboro, SC; loving aunts, Florine Nelson Howell of Philadelphia, PA, Lillie Bell Harrison, Rebecca Hill and Ella Mae Trapp, all of Winnsboro, SC;  and Gwen Young of Columbia, SC; twelve (12) nephews; three (3) nieces; great nephews and nieces and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
