Marion Lawrence Busby (ML) was born September 24, 1951 to Matthew Busby, Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Johnson) Busby in Cope, South Carolina. He was the second of three children.
His early education began in Orangeburg County. Marion later moved to Columbia, SC and attended the public schools of Richland County. He graduated from Hopkins High School with the class of 1969. He furthered his education at Denmark Technical College receiving a diploma in Tailoring. Marion entered the US Army in 1972 and served until 1974 with honorable discharge. He was a proud Master Tailor with various retailers, retiring from Granger Owings, Columbia, SC.
ML was preceded in death by his wife Mary Busby, his parents, and grandparents: Webster and Annie (Tyler) Busby and Thomas and Lucille (McMichael) Johnson.
Marion leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Marion T. (Melanie) Busby of Pawleys Island, SC, Antonio M. Busby of Las Vegas, NV, and daughter Kenya Felder of Columbia, SC. Five Grandsons: Justin, Jalen, and Trey Busby all of Pawleys Island, SC; Tykel and Omari Felder of Columbia, SC. One great-grandson Luca Busby of Pawleys Island, SC. A brother Matthew (Unita) Busby, Jr. of Blythewood, SC and a sister Queenie Busby Green of Orangeburg, SC. God-daughter Journey A. Mitchum of Orangeburg, SC. Nephews: Matthew Busby, III and Jamal A. Green. Nieces: LaQuinn and Nikki Jeffcoat. A special and devoted friend Sylvia Gay of Columbia, SC; many cousins and friends.
