Marion T. Bland

Marion “Thales” Bland, was born January 1, 1939, in McCormick County, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Willie “Boss” Bland and Louellen Prince Bland.  He was called to eternal rest on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in McCormick, South Carolina. 

He attended the public schools of McCormick County and retired from Satterfield Construction. He enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the radio.

Thales accepted Christ early in life and allowed Him to guide him throughout his life.  He joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age attending faithfully and regularly until his health declined. Thales was a loving brother, uncle, and friend, who will be missed by all those who loved and knew him.

Thales was preceded in death by his loving parents, one brother, William Lonell Bland, Sr., and three sisters, Almeda Bland, Emma Bland and Martha Bland Davis.

He is survived by two loving brothers, John (Ojetta) Bland and James (Myrtle) Bland both of McCormick, SC; and one loving sister, Mae Frances Patterson of McCormick, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom are sadden by his departure. We will miss his many caring ways, loving nature, as a long Christian life comes to an end.
