Marilyn Boyd Kelley was born April 25, 1935, in Little Mountain, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Henry E. and Lula Bowers Boyd. She departed this earthly life and peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 22, 2025, at PRISMA Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Marilyn was educated in the public schools of Lexington County. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Thomas Kelly, Sr.; and was employed with Providence Sisters of Charity Hospital from which she retired as a dietitian after many years of dedicated service.
Mrs. Kelley was a member of Village of Hope Fellowship Church where she attended faithfully and regularly before her health declined.
Marilyn was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be missed by all those who loved and knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Kelley, Jr; six brothers; and eight brothers. Mrs. Kelley is lovingly survived by her son, Solomon B. Kelley; three daughters, Shelia Kelley (Limas) Slater, Bernice (Cedric) Canzater and Annette Forrester, all of Columbia, SC; and grandchildren reared in her home, Quinto and Tia Kelley; fifteen (15) grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Cellus (Jessie) Benjamin of Hyattsville, MD, and Frank Bynum of Chapin, SC; sisters, Althea (Melvin) Clarkson, Cellustine (Louis) Benson, both Little Mountain, SC; sister-in-law, Grace Boyd of Clearfield, UT; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now with the Lord.
