Marian Alicia Douglas was born on August 21, 1980, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of Dr. Patricia Brevard Pollin, DBS, and Dennis Douglas, Jr. She peacefully transitioned to be with God on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:50 a.m. at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Marian was educated in the public schools of Richland School District One where she attended W. J. Keenan High School and built a strong reputation through her dedicated work ethic over the years, including employment with Trane, the City of Columbia and Koyo.
Marian was a wonderful daughter, a loving mother, a spoiled baby sister, and an amazing aunt. To know her was to feel her warmth—she was truly a social butterfly and the life of the party.
Marian lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and a spirit that brought people together. Her laughter, presence, and ability to connect with anyone will be remembered and deeply missed.
Marian was proceeded by her grandparents, Dennis S. Douglas Sr. and Almeta Douglas; and Arthur and Marion J. Brevard.
Marian is survived by her six loving children, Korina (Lowell) Dixon, Tilton James III, Tilvaris James, Taraji James, Tyler James, and Tristan James; grandchildren, Ava Dixon and Malachi Dixon; parents, Dr. Patricia Pollin, DBS, and Dennis Douglas Jr.; her significant other, Tilton James Jr.; loving siblings, Carmelita (Minister Harold) Arledge and Sylvia (Dale) Manaiza; along with extended family and many dear friends whose lives were touched by her love and personality.
