Margie Dent Bookert Obituary

Margie Dent Bookert was born on November 6, 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late James W. Dent Sr. and Susie Bell Owens Dent. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 11, 2021. 

Margie was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. She graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in 1967.

Margie was baptized at an early age at Zion Chapel Baptist Church #1 where she remained an active member through her service on the Jr. Usher Board, Jr. Jubilee Choir, & Missionary. She also served on the floral committee, VBS committee, hospitality committee, and as the den mother of the cub scouts. She assisted with the senior citizen trip & was willing to help wherever and whenever she could.

Margie was the beautiful wife of John W. Bookert for 54 years and from this union are two loving children, Linda (Tica) Ford and John (Greg) Bookert.

Margie enjoyed working in her garden, baking cakes, taking pictures, traveling, & creating flower arrangements. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grands and great-granddaughter. 

Margie was proceeded in death by her siblings Cynthia Dent, Alvin Dent, and Ralph Dent, all of Columbia, SC.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her loving husband, John W. Bookert, her daughter Linda (Tica) Ford, her son John (Greg) Bookert, all of Columbia, SC; 4 granddaughters, Te'Jauna Ford (Columbia, SC), Chantale Ford (Summerville, SC), Jayda Ford (Columbia, SC) and Jasmine Ford (Columbia, SC), and 1 great-granddaughter Samiyah Sutton (Columbia, SC). Two brothers and two sisters; Deacon James W. Dent Jr. (Wanda), Michael Dent (Sandra), Wanda Elaine Johnson, & Pamela Dent Bell (Bernard), all of Columbia, SC. One aunt, Janice Owens-Palmer (Columbia, SC). Special sister, Vertell Potts (Philadelphia, PA). Adopted son, Jimmy Ford (Bel Air, MD). Close friends Barbara Morris (Columbia, SC), Ida Tucker (Columbia, SC) and Cynthia Tillery-Williams (Columbia, SC). Also, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
