Margaret Nelson, daughter of the late Joe and Pearl Nelson, was born February 13, 1936 in Swansea, South Carolina. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and aunt departed us on Sunday, July 4, 2021, with her family by her side in Columbia, South Carolina.
Margaret grew up in Swansea, South Carolina and attended public schools. She obtained her License Practical Nursing from Midlands Technical College and furthered her education again by graduating with her Registered Nurse Licensing from Midlands Technical College. She was a loyal hard-working employee for over 30 years with the state of South Carolina Department of Mental Health retiring in 2011.
Margaret was a faithful servant of Jehovah God and became a devoted baptized Jehovah’s Witness on September 19, 1982. She belonged to the Forest Acres Congregation formerly known as the Central Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mrs. Nelson is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Aileen Daniels, Rudine Wanamaker and Alwillie Crowe and her brothers, Ulysses Nelson, Joseph Nelson, Booker T. Nelson and JW Nelson.
She leaves to celebrate her life of love and laughter by one brother: Rennie (Mary) Nelson of Columbia, SC; three sons: James Anthony (Mary) Johnson of Gaston, SC; Francis Johnson of Gaston, SC and Robert Gofart; two daughters: Deborah (Anthony) Sims of Columbia, SC; Ginger (Lloyd) Graham of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren: Janice (Taris) Smith of Gaston, SC; Melissa (Rashid) Oree of Gaston, SC; Tiffany (Tyrone) Johnson of Gaston, SC; Robert John Milbrodt of Columbia, SC; Amber Michelle Milbrodt of Columbia, SC and Chloe Graham of Columbia, SC and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
