Marcus Lashawn Neal

Marcus LaShawn Neal was born November 21, 1972, in Columbus, Mississippi.   He was the son of the late David Earl Neal and Kitty Ann Martin Neal.  He departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 19, 2022, peacefully at his residence in Columbia, South Carolina.

[Icon Description automatically generated] Marcus was the baby of his siblings, and you knew it!  He was educated in the public schools of Richland County.  Throughout his adult life, he worked as a carpenter and a chef for many years until he was medically retired.  He was committed to living a positive life, bringing joy and laughter to every room he entered with his witty personality and his charisma. 

Marcus received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at a young age.  He was a member of Grace Temple Deliverance Center here in Columbia, South Carolina.

Marcus was a special person to everyone that he met.  He was a true die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a true OG from Pinehurst.  He was smart talented and gifted with his hands.  He could draw, paint, cook and fix or build anything. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Marcus was also preceded in death and his son, Marcus Neal, Jr.; his nephew, Riza Neal, who faithfully stood by his side until the end of his journey; and his grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Karoi Neal of Atlanta, GA, Marquisha Neal of Columbia, SC; and Taquierra (Melvin) Reid of  Kyoto, Japan; and his grandson, Landon Williams of Kyoto, Japan; two brothers, Aaron Neal (Tyler) of Snellville, GA; and Glen Neal of Stockbridge, GA; one sister, Angela Neal Jordan of Columbia, SC; one niece, TaKeya Jordan of Columbia, SC; and two nephews, Brandon Jordan of Columbia, SC;  three uncles; six aunts; a host cousins, his two special friends, Robert (Big) Williams and Steve Lemon Sr.; all of whom will miss him dearly, but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
