Marcus Quintin Hardrick was born July 11, 1978, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of the late Sandra Kay Maxwell and Willie Lee Furtick. He departed this life on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of forty-six, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Marcus was a free spirited, vibrant, and passionate man who was full of life. He was known for his warm heart and magnetic energy that he shared with all who came in contact with him. Marcus made everyone he met feel like family.
At the time of his departure, he was employed with Braza Chicken. He had an incredible gift for cooking and found joy in preparing meals that brought people together. His food was his sanctuary, and language of love.
Marcus was a jack of all trades. In his younger years he played baseball as a pitcher and showcased his musical talent as a drummer with the Eau Claire Marching Band. His love for music stayed with him throughout his life. A dedicated and hard worker, he later channeled his creativity and ambition into starting his own fencing business, proudly operating under the slogan, “you buy the wood, I make it look good.” Marcus loved working with his hands and rarely sat still.
Marcus was a beloved husband, father, grandson, brother, uncle, and friend, who leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and unforgettable memories.
In addition to his parents, Marcus was preceded in death by his stepfather, Royston (TLie) Maxwell.
Marcus is lovingly survived by his wife of sixteen years, Decarlo Hardrick; children, Anthony L. “Tony” Harris, Jr., William (Donnia) Conway, Ashley Kelley, Tanisha Kelley and Taniya Harris; six grandchildren; brother, Dennis K.
