Mamie Delores Cary Obituary

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you”…  John 14:27

Mamie Deloris Cary was born on March 25, 1963, in Smithfield, NC to Elizabeth Harris Tyson and the late George Cole.  She was preceded in death by adopted father, Faraaj Harris.

Mamie graduated high school while living in Germany, and she graduated from Mansfield Business College.  Mamie was employed with the Federal Government where she dedicated 26 years of service.  Mamie worked as Lead Defense Travel Administrator with the Department of Defense and obtained several awards throughout her career.

Of all things in life, the most beautiful is character.  Mamie possessed a beautiful character and lived a wonderful life.  She had a strong love for her family and was the primary caregiver for her mother, Elizabeth whom she dearly loved.

Mamie loved shopping.  She loved wearing bold and bright colors to match her vibrant personality.  She was always meticulous about her appearance; she dressed in style, with flawless makeup, hair and nails done to perfection.

Mamie was known for her huge personality, big smiles and infectious laugh that was very loud and often accompanied by a lovable hit to your arm.

Mamie finished her earthly course on September 14, 2022, and quietly and firmly grasped her Master’s hand and stepped across the threshold of death as she transitioned to her eternal home.  We know that this is a journey we all must take, and we thank God for the time we shared with Mamie on her journey.  She “Fought the Good Fight of Faith”.

She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She leaves to cherish her memories a dear mother, Elizabeth Harris Tyson; sisters, Patricia Ann Harris, and Angelina Elizabeth Greene (Christopher); brother, Alvin Evans (Donna); nieces, Patrice Elizabeth Harris, Christiana Elizabeth Greene and Shalonda Evans; nephews, Michael James Harris and D. Tramaine T. Sims (Delisha) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
