Mack S. Wilson

Mack Shondell Wilson was born December 29, 1982, in Brooklyn, New York, the beloved son of Mack J. Wilson and the late Angela Groom.  He departed this life on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of forty-three.

Mack spent his childhood in Columbia, South Carolina, under the care of his grandparents, McArtha and Mary Carroll and attending the public schools of Richland County including Eau Claire High School.

On February 29, 2016, Mack was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life the former Shahanna Johnson with whom he shared a union of love and devotion.  He was a devoted and loving father to three children; and the stepfather to five whom he loved as his own.

Mack lived a life centered on faith, family and music. He will be remembered for his passion for music, and as  a well-known rapper performing under the name “ Takeover.”   His music has left a lasting impression on those who followed his journey. Though he is no longer physically with us, his love for his family, music and his loyalty will be remembered by all those who loved and knew him, and whose lives he touched through his music.

In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Delores Croom; and grandfathers, Roscoe Croom and McArtha Carroll.

Those who cherishing fond and precious memories of Mack are his loving and devoted wife, Shahanna J. Wilson; children, Taylor Wilson, Mack Wilson, Jr. and Khaseem Wilson; five stepchildren; his father, Mack J. Wilson; stepmother, Crystal Wilson; grandmother, Mary Carroll; sisters, Janel Croom and Jamella Croom; brothers, Jamal Croom, Quandelle Wilson and Derrick Wilson; six aunts; three uncles; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
