Lucy Elizabeth Boulware was born September 19, 1943, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Henry Mack Sanders and Lucy Elizabeth Sanders. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Lucy was educated in the public schools of Richland School District One where she was a proud graduate of C. A. Johnson High School. She received medical certifications at Midlands Technical College and worked as a Mental Health Specialist for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for nearly 30 years, where she treated every client/resident the way that she wanted to be treated.
Mrs. Boulware was a member of Chappelle Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church for over 55 years. She joined the church under the leadership of the late Presiding Elder Rev. Willie J. Nelson. During her tenure at Chappelle, she supported her church through prayer and financial contributions, and she was one of the original members of the Floral Club Ministry established by her dear friend, the late Mrs. Mary Gist. She attended faithfully and regularly until her health declined. While at home Elizabeth was grateful to continue viewing church services and programs on the church's YouTube site.
Ms. Lucy as she was affectionately called loved her family, her friends, her church, and most of all she Loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Any time you were in her presence, who could see and feel the personal relationship she had with her Lord and Savior.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Robert L. Davis; and her beloved husband of 44 years, Lawrence Boulware, Jr.
She is lovingly survived by her four children, Felicia (Allen Shell) Davis, Robert L. Davis, Jr., Sherry Davis, and Adriane Boulware all of Columbia, SC; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three siblings, Jean S. Hopkins, Shirley (Wardel) Brown, and Authur Ray (Elizabeth) Dickey Sr.; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
