Lou Ann Scott was born June 11, 1973, in Richland County, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of Bobbie Scott and the late Nelson Brown, Sr.  Lou Ann entered eternal rest on Monday, January 29, 2024, at MUSC Hospital, in Columbia, South  Carolina.

“Lucie” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Richland School District Two where she graduated from Spring Valley High School.  At  the time of her departure, she was employed with Rice Estates where she worked for more than twenty years, Wildwood Downs for three years, and Still Hopes Retirement Center for a little over seven years.

Lou Ann was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts of lives of all who loved and knew her.

In addition to her father, Lou Ann was also preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jessie Scott, Sr., and James Brown Sr; and her aunt, Mamie Mealing.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Lou Ann are her loving children, ShanDreka Mayes, Kelvin Mayes, both of Columbia, SC, and Jada Mayes of Orangeburg, SC; life partner, Kelvin Mayes, II of Columbia, SC; grandson, Javard Mayes; granddaughter, JaKailah Harris; her mother, Bobbie Scott and Jessie M. Jacobs of Columbia, SC; four brother, Nelson (Renee) Brown, Jr. of Elgin, SC, Patrick (Janeen) Smith of Atlanta, GA; Pedro Brown of Pawley’s Island, SC, and Kevin (TyQuisha) Wesley of Columbia, SC; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, her special cousin, Kwantwella Chavis, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure.
