Lorraine W. Porterfield was born May 3, 1957, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Bertha Mae Wise and Joseph McDaniel. She departed this earthly life on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
Lorraine attended North High School before leaving to join the workforce at Stone Manufacturing. Upon relocating to Columbia, she worked at PRISMA Health in Environmental Service for twenty years.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Anthony C. Porterfield and together they blended a family that was filled with love and devotion.
Lorraine was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Though she is no longer physically with us, she left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Travis L. Wise.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Lorraine are her loving children, Rebecca (Quinton) Smith, Samson (Juanita) Wise, Anthony M. Porterfield, Jr. and Katrelle Porterfield; eighteen (18) grandchildren, Deshanti Chantell (Johnathan) McJunkin, Gerrel Webber, Deandre, India, Daquan, Jakia, and Jacob Wise; Josiah Swinton and Marlee Johnson ; six (6) great-grandchildren, Kenley Gibbons, Reagan Webber, Zyaire McJunkin, Amora, Legend, and Loyal Wise; loving siblings, Edna Mae (Donald) Greene, Tommy (Linda) Moore, Edward Greene, Lorenzo (Gwen) Wise, Melvin Wise, Joann (Johnathan) Washington, and Kenneth Wise; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
