Today, we gather to celebrate and remember the life and legacy of Sis Lizzie Mae Thompson. Born to the late William and Marie Bovain on June 26, 1954, in Calhoun County. Lizzie departed this life on January 10, 2022, at the Agape Hospice House of Lexington SC.
Lizzie received her education in the Calhoun County School System in South Carolina. Sis. Thompson worked in the Food Service industries, she worked as a housekeeper and a caregiver to provide for her family. Lizzie entered two unions under God, and while married to Bro. Jessie Lee Thompson the union was blessed with four daughters.
Sis. Thompson join the Heyward AME Church at an early age. She was a member of the Heyward Usher Board and the Heyward Mass Choir. Sis. Thompson was faithful and loved her church and church family.
Preceding her in death along with her parents are Joe and Lydia Butler, grandparents, Johnny Butler and Bernard Bovain, brothers, Shelia Bovain, sister Annie Butler, Aunt.
Those left to cherish her memories are four daughters. Jennifer Bovain, Sylvia (Reginald) Gardner, and Jessie Mae Thompson of Gaston SC, and Tammy Thompson of Columbia SC. Four Sisters, Lucinda (Nate) Gaskins of Lexington, Christine Bovain of Swansea SC, Shirley (Tony) Lloyd of Lexington SC and Movita Bovain of Columbia SC. Five Brothers, Horace Bates of Orangeburg SC, William Bovain of Beaufort SC, Tony Bovain of Lexington SC, Kenneth Bovain and Lance Bovain of Brooklyn NY, and Aunt Rosa (Bobby) Petty of Detroit MI. Eight grandchildren, and Six Great grandchildren. Special friends Tony (Chris) Benson, of Columbia SC, Andrew McClendon and Lamar Adams of Gaston SC, Mark Vinson of West Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.
