Linda Smith Sumter

Linda (Eva) Smith Sumter of Columbia, South Carolina was born September 28, 1952, (70) the beloved daughter of the late Johnnie Pierce and Lillie Bell Smith. She departed this earthly life on December 3, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.

On June 23, 1984, Linda married David Sumter of Columbia, South Carolina. Their union was blessed with two sons, David C. Sumter and Ryan A. Sumter. Linda was a devoted and committed wife to David “Sump” Sumter and was a very dedicated mother to her loving sons. 

In addition to her parents Linda (Eva) Smith Sumter was preceded in death by her devoted husband David “Sump” Sumter; sister Betty Smith and brother James Smith.

At a young age, Linda joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Johnston South Carolina. She attended public schools in Aiken, South Carolina and graduated from Aiken High School, Aiken, South Carolina, Class of 1970. Linda studied Business and in 1972 graduated from Columbia Commercial College, Columbia, South Carolina.

Linda worked for the Department of Social Services in Columbia, South Carolina and retired with approximately 40 years of service.  Linda rejoined the workforce by working as a sales person for the Target Corporation.

She enjoyed spending time with her two loving sons and they were the apple of her eye.  We must not forget about how much Linda enjoyed her QVC shopping. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her, and all those whose lives she so lovingly touched.

Left to cherish her memory is her two loving sons, David C. and Ryan A. Sumter (Cierra); a brother, Albert (Debra) Smith; sisters, Delores Singleton, Jeri Floyd; a brother-n-law William (Thomasina) Sumter; sister-n-law Rochelle Smith; one uncle; five aunts and a host of nieces, nephews and loving cousins and friends.
