Mrs. Lilla Mae Watlington was born on January 15, 1941, in North, South Carolina. She was the second child of the late B.T. and Mary Green. She departed this life for eternal life with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2022, at her home with her family.
Mrs. Lilla Mae attended public school in South Carolina and graduated from CA Johnson high school in Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Lilla Mae also attended Benedict College. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Melvin Watlington Sr., a union that was blessed with many years of love, happiness, devotion, and the birth of four children. Lilla Mae was a loyal faithful servant at The Church of Harvest servings as an intercessor in prayer.
Lilla Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Though she will no longer physically be with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of those who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Watlington was preceded in death by her parents, B.T. and Mary Green, sister Flossie Gayton, and husband Melvin Watlington Sr.
Those left to cherish Lilla Mae’s warm and precious memories are her three sons; Melvin (Carla)Watlington Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, Curtis (Fatima) Watlington Sr., of Ladson, South Carolina, Marvin Watlington of Columbia, South Carolina, one loving daughter, Paulette W (Willie) Young, of Columbia, South Carolina., an aunt Rosa Lee Goree of Columbia, South Carolina; two stepsons James Noaks, Mike Williams, one stepdaughter Wendy McDonald; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter and a host of nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join with the family in sharing grief caused by her departure.
