Lewis Henry Solomon was born on May 26, 1951, in Gary, Texas, the beloved son of the late Bolie and Theo Smith Solomon. He peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Lewis was educated in Lubbock, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Monterey High School. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country. Lewis was strong-willed, passionate, and self-motivated. These qualities fueled his entrepreneurial spirit and inspired him to return to school to further his education.
Lewis attended the University of South Carolina, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Throughout his life, Lewis owned and operated several businesses, reflecting his drive, leadership, and commitment to excellence. He also showed a deep interest in working with veterans through the Alston Wilkes Society, demonstrating his continued dedication to supporting those who served until his passing.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his brothers, George Solomon and Willie Smith; and his sisters, Flora Thomas, Velma Ransom, and Diane Nelson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his common-law wife of 45 years, Harriet Davis; son, Jermaine (Cherry) Walker of Elgin, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Courtney (Chris) Cullars of Hopkins, South Carolina, Brandon Scott of Columbia, South Carolina, Jasmine Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Justin Walker of Columbus, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Williams and Eunice Solomon, both of Texas; two brothers, Floyd Solomon of Savannah, Georgia, and Darnell Solomon of Visalia, California; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
