Ms. Lessie Lee Lewis, daughter of the late Burley and Josephine Bookman was born on November 8, 1945 in Columbia, SC. She transitioned from this life to join her heavenly father on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at her home. She was 75.
A graduate of Kenneth Schuler Cosmetology School, Lessie’s flair for the fashion and beauty industry launched her into an entrepreneurial career as a Master Cosmetologist.
Lessie owned and managed multiple beauty salons in the Columbia metropolitan area, training and employing cosmetologists throughout the community. She retired after over 30 years as a Master Cosmetologist at “The Gallery Salon” in Columbia, SC.
She cherished her only son, Patrick J. Lewis and provided him with a sense of family, world travel, and phenomenal professional opportunities that enabled him to become an entrepreneur.
She was married to the late Adolph Lewis, whom preceded her in death. Lessie was a woman of prayer and faith, serving in many ministries in the city.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gary Bookman, Jack T. Williams, Joyce Bushell, Willie Belle Lott, Jessie Williams, and Curtis Bookman.
She leaves to treasure her memory her son, Patrick J. Lewis; brother, Burley Bookman; sister -in law, Mary Williams and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.
