Leroy Portee, Jr. was born in January 23, 1959, in Gadsden SC, the beloved son of Mrs. Janie Grant Portee and the late Mr. Leroy Portee Sr. Leroy was called to eternal rest on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
“Buster,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the Richland County Public Schools where he attended Lower Richland High School. He enjoyed activities such as playing basketball, playing cards, and traveling. He was employed with Richland School District One at Hopkins Elementary School, where he worked as a driver.
Though he is no longer physically with us his loving and kind playful spirit will live in our hearts and lives of all who knew him and loved him.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his bother in-law, Edward Andrews; and nephew, Israel John Andrews.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his dear mother, Janie Grant Portee; caring brothers, Jerry H. Portee, and Jimmy D. Portee; sisters, Janice Andrews, Survern (Benjamin) Warley, and Tasha (Crystal) Lloyd; his former wife, Minister Cheryl Washington and son, Cary Washington; nephew, Brandon (Tiarah) Warley and Lamont Lloyd; nieces, Edwanna Portee, Ashley D. Warley and Shamieka S. Lloyd; aunts, Wilean Middleton, Eunice (Steve) Sutton, and Doreathea Loyd; a special friend of the family who dedicated her time to help him during his time of illness, Mary Jackson; and a host of cousins, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
