Leon Washington, Sr.

Mr. Leon “Papa Smurf” Washington, Sr, was born October 28, 1947 in Chapin, SC. He was the son of the late James (Marie) Washington. He departed this life to be with the Lord on October 2, 2021, at his home in Irmo, SC.

“Papa Smurf” as he was affectionatly called ,was educated in Richlex High School,, now knowas a Dutch Fork Elementary School. He worked for Richland School Distrct One for 43 years.

Mr. Leon was a loving father, brother, brother-in law, uncle, father-in law and grandfather. He loved going fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. His loving spirit will be very remembered by his daughter-in law, Sharon.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Washington was preced in death by his wife, Nancy Washington; son, Leon Wasghitnon, Jr; mother-in law, Alene Kennedy and his brother, Willie Domeneck Washginton.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are his two loving sons, Todd (Sharon) Washington of Irmo, SC and Eric Tyrone Washignton of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, James Washington, Jr and Willie Washington, both of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; one great-grandchildren and a host of nieces ,nephews, family and friends; a special sister-in law, Diane Jackson whom will miss him dearly.
