Larry Odell Harmon was born June 23, 1948, in Leesville, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Odell and Mary Lou Clark Harmon. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Rice Estate Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Larry was educated in the public schools of Leesville, South Carolina. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he was station at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Larry was a kind man who loved repairing bicycles and small motors. He was very vocal about his struggles with sobriety, and enormously proud of achieving nine (9) sobriety coins. He gained a love for life and for those around him. As a peer leader he will be remembered for his mantra “If you don’t want it, you ain’t gonna get it.” This saying has helped so many others during their struggle. He will be missed by all the lives he touched, and the example that he set for others.
Mr. Harmon attended First Baptist Church and always gave credit to God for showing him the way to be free. . .and to stay free!
In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by his son, Darren Harmon; and sister, Margaret Hartley.
Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love that will be remember by all those who loved and knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Royster Harmon; his loving son, Andy Harmon of Hope Mills, NC; and loving sister, Margaret Hartley of Batesburg, Leesville, SC; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
