Kevin Gordon Obituary

Kevin Gordon, affectionately known as “KO,” was born on September 2, 1960, in Manhattan, New York, the beloved son of the late Ernest Gordon and Henrietta Craig. On Friday, April 10, 2026, Kevin departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, humor, strength, and unforgettable presence.

He was raised with love, guidance, and strength by his mother, Henrietta, his grandmother Eva Brown, and his sister Shari Craig, each of whom helped shape the man he became.

In 2005, Kevin made South Carolina his home, where he continued building a life rooted in family, loyalty, and resilience. He dedicated his later years to serving others through his work at Prisma Health as an Environmental Health professional, taking pride in creating safer, healthier environments for those around him. Kevin was known for his strong personality—stern when needed, protective of the people he loved, and unafraid to stand his ground. His toughness was matched by a deep loyalty, and those who knew him understood that beneath that aggressive edge was a man who loved fiercely and defended his family without hesitation.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his daughter, Jaylece Cook; sons Andre Gordon and Michael Ross; brother Paul Craig; sister Shari Craig; and his grandmother, Eva Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Kevin Gordon Jr.; along with Kevin Jr.’s  (Denise Baskerville), who remained a supportive presence in his life; grandchildren, Kya M. Gordon, Kevin C. Gordon, Lucas T. Gordon, and Addison E. Gordon; and Krissie Chatman (Deverick Shivers), whom he loved as his own, along with her son, his grandson, Christopher D. Trapp Jr. Kevin also leaves behind his stepchildren,  sons, Kiress Chatman, Christopher Chatman, and Shamek Hynson; and daughter, Crystal Chatman; nephew. Michael Ross; his siblings, Zoey Gordon, Gregory Brown, and Zontell Gordon, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. In his final days, Kevin was lovingly and faithfully cared for by his ex‑wife, Genevieve Hynson, who stood by his side with unwavering devotion. Her compassion, support, and presence brought him comfort, dignity, and peace as he transitioned from this life.

Kevin will be remembered for his laughter, his loyalty, his strength, and the impact he made on every life he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on through his family, his stories, and the love he gave so freely.
